Wambana

Sailing the 'One & All'

In the final days of the Wambana Experience the boys sail back to Adelaide aboard the tall ship the 'One & All'. This two night, three day sailing program involves sailing from either Point Turton or Wallaroo (depending on weather conitions) on theYorke Peninsula to Dock 2 at Port Adelaide.

The sail voyage begins on the last Tuesday of each Wambana program. If conditions do not allow for the The One&All to anchor off the jetty at Point Turton, students will travel by bus to the Wallaroo Jetty to board the ship.  The buses leave Wambana at 8.00am and meet the crew of the 'One & All' at 10.00am. An initial brief is conducted then students load their gear onto the ship and are allocated their sleeping quarters. Students will sail the ship around the bottom of the Yorke Peninsula passing places such as Corney Point, Innes National Park, the Althorpe Islands and the north coast of Kangaroo Island. The 'One & All' will dock at 'Dock 2' at 5.00pm on the last Thursday of each Wambana program.

Parents are invited to meet the ship as it docks at 'Dock 2'. Parents are encouraged to arrive around 4.00pm to see the ship travelling up the Port River. A celebration evening takes place at the "Shed" at Dock 2. This begins at 6.00pm and finishes at 7.30pm. The informal BBQ and student presentation allows families and their son’s to join together and celebrate the success of the program. Students will give a presentation that highlights the following:

  • A particular topic of Wambana
  • Their Greatest Achievement
  • Their most valuable lesson learnt

A 20 minute DVD is shown as the conclusion of the program
