Middle School

Curriculum

Students in the Middle School are presented with a rigorous and demanding curriculum with a global focus. Our teaching and learning is guided by the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) which promotes an understanding and enjoyment of the process of learning, acquiring knowledge and skills for further learning and recognizing the extent to which knowledge is interrelated.

All students in Years 7-9 follow a broad and balanced curriculum which is based around eight subject areas.

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Personal and Physical Development
  • Science
  • Languages
  • Humanities
  • Technology

Belief and Values permeates the Middle School curriculum, reflecting the Uniting Church ethos of the College.

Academic Extension Program

We recognize that many children have special talents, be they in mathematics, sport, art or music. Some boys happen to be gifted learners. We recognise, support and challenge these students through our Academic Extension Program. Depending on the nature of their strengths, students can be extended in English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities.

Learning Support Program

We seek to challenge and inspire students to maximise their potential. We appreciate that some boys need added support and guidance to develop fully. Our Learning Support Program identifies students who would benefit from structured support. Depending on needs, students may be withdrawn from class to develop strategies and skills to enhance their learning or receive additional in-class support.
