Our enrolment process

We welcome you enrolling your son at Princes in Reception to Year 12, and your son or daughter in our Early Learning Centre – 2 to 4 year olds.

For enrolment of boys and girls in our Early Learning Centre, please complete the ELC Application form.

Reception to Year 12 enrolments

Step 1: Please complete the online Enrolment Application.

The enrolment application places your son on our waiting list for the grade level and calendar year that you nominate. The application provides us with information about your son, your family and his current education circumstances.

We will keep in touch with you (unless you choose otherwise) leading up to the year in which you have enrolled him to let you know about the school and information relevant to your son’s application.

Independent schools in South Australia have agreed to make offers of a place on March 1 each year for applicants starting in two years’ time. However, if your enrolment is for the current year or next year, we accelerate the process.

Note: you will need to have a credit card ready to pay the non-refundable application fee of AUD$100.

Step 2: Review of the application

Prior to making an offer of a place in a year level, we review each application to ensure that:

  • there is a place available in the relevant year and grade
  • a Boarding place is available if required
  • his subject choices are available
  • we can offer appropriate academic support where required
  • If the boy was not born in Australia, we review residency status and level of English competency.

Often we will interview a boy face-to-face to add to our understanding of him and his educational and well-being needs.

We then place him on the relevant year and grade wait list. If the number of students seeking enrolment in a year and grade level exceeds the number of places available, we prioritise according to factors such as date of application and family connections.

Step 3:  Offer of a place

The Headmaster makes an offer to the parent or guardian for the boy to commence at the agreed year and grade level. Some offers are made up to two years before the boy’s agreed year of commencement. Some are made quickly to enable a boy to commence when it is best for his education and well being.

Every year on 1 March, PAC along with most independent schools, makes offers to boys whose requested commencement year is in two years’ time.

Step 4: Confirmation of the offer

The boy’s enrolment in the agreed year and grade level is finalised when the College receives from the parent or guardian:

  • the signed letter of offer and acceptance of the terms and conditions
  • payment of the non-refundable Enrolment Acceptance Fee of $1,250. The fee includes lifetime membership of the Prince Alfred College Old Scholars Association
  • All information required to: enrol him in the appropriate subjects; ensure his safety, health and privacy; and to satisfy government requirements.

Enrolling in the PAC Early Learning Centre

To enrol at our ELC, please complete the ELC Application form.

Please ensure that you include a copy of your son’s birth certificate when sending in an application form.

Enrolling in the Early Learning Centre is a separate process to enrolling in Reception to Year 12 at PAC. When you are ready to enrol your son in Reception or later years at PAC, you will need to complete the PAC Application for Enrolment.

Reception Age Policy
Students who turn five years of age between 1 August and 28 February may commence Reception in Term 1 which is usually in February, if places are available. Students who turn five years of age between 1 March and 1 August may commence Reception in term 3 which is in July, if places are available. Students who enter the Mid-Year Reception class will be required to spend 6 terms in Reception.

International Students
We are licensed to enrol 80 full fee paying overseas students (FFPOS) who are not Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia. The process of enrolment of FFPOS is in keeping with immigration legislation and procedure.

International enrolments follow a similar process to that for domestic students. A copy of a passport along with results from a standard Language Testing Program such as AEAS should be included with the application. Documentation of previous school performance and reports should also accompany the application which will be assessed by the Headmaster. Billing Currency and Refund Policy
All transactions processed in relation to an application for enrolment are processed in Australian Dollars.

Payments made with an application for enrolment are non-refundable. Payments made ‘in error’ may, however, be considered for refund. In such cases the request for consideration should be addressed to the Manager, Student Recruitment via an email sent to admissions@pac.edu.au.
