The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for Middle School students in Years 7 and 9.

NAPLAN tests students’ development in essential skills in reading, writing, spelling and numeracy. The assessments are undertaken nationwide, every year, in the second full week in May.

NAPLAN is made up of tests in the four areas of:

  • reading
  • writing
  • language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
  • numeracy

Participation in NAPLAN testing is encouraged for all students at Prince Alfred College, however parents may choose to formally withdraw their child from the NAPLAN testing program using the following pro-forma: 2019 NAPLAN Record of Student Withdrawal Form
