Henry Kenneth FRY B.Sc., M.B., B.S., M.D. graduated in medicine from the University of Adelaide and was awarded a 1909 Rhodes Scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford. He served in the Australian Army Medical Corps, and for 20 years was the Medical Officer of the City of Adelaide. He was also a clinical teacher and lecturer in therapeutics in the Medical School at Adelaide University.
He served in this capacity throughout the battles of the Somme where he was decorated with the DSO for his achievements at Pozieres and Sausage Valley where he was constantly under shellfire superintending and arranging the evacuation of the wounded....throughout the campaign similar thoroughness of work has been his characteristic. He was promoted lieutenant colonel and given command of 13 FdAmb in October 1917.
