Flashback Friday // For fifty years, the age-old rivalry between Day Boys and Boarders extended to an old scholars’ football match during Old Scholars’ Week.

These friendly, but hard-fought, matches are fondly remembered by those who played in them. For this month’s article in the Stock Journal, we caught up with former boarders Bruce Newman (1949) and Maurice Wakefield (1948), who recalled playing in the early 1950s, and David Davies in the early 1970s.

Pictured here is David’s grandson, city boy Evan (Year 8), reading his grandfather’s words with country mate Angus Hodges (Year 8, Banoon Station via Mildura, NSW).

Congratulations to old scholar Alex Hill, profiled in today’s Advertiser, on his journey from the Riverland to Olympic Gold, as stroke of the men’s coxless four! An outstanding achievement and a proud moment for our community🥇

There are two other interesting PAC connections with this year’s Australian rowing program.

Our former Director of Rowing, Andrew Randell, who coached Alex during his time at the College, coached yesterday’s bronze medal winning women’s quad scull.

Old Scholar Brian Richardson OAM (1965) was the Chair of Selectors for rowing.

Congratulations to all involved! 👏🇦🇺
