Sports Medicine became a particular interest for Brian Sando following his appointment as team doctor to the Norwood ‘Redlegs’, a position he held for 26 years. Dr Sando became the doctor at the Adelaide Football Club with the inception of the Crows in 1991.
Brian Sando had attended each of the Olympic Games since Moscow in 1980 and was the Medical Director for the Australian Olympic team from 1988 Seoul games to 2000. He was also the Medical Director of the Australian Commonwealth Games team since 1986 and the doctor with the swimming team in the Australian team at the Athens Games in 2004.
Dr Sando practised sports medicine at Adelaide’s Wakefield Sports Clinic, with his contribution to this field being recognised on Australia Day 1995 with the awarding of the Medal of the Order of Australia.
