Ernest Rowe won the South Australian State singles title in 1926 and 1927, following in the footsteps of his mother who was also a State champion. The following year in Sydney he played in the Australian Davis Cup team in the Davis Cup against France. Rowe also wrote books on tennis, one including the official rules and handicapping system of the game, which continues to be used to this day. He was also an accomplished golfer.
