Following completion of a Bachelor of Economics from Adelaide University, Frank Hambly worked for three years in the Commonweath Public Service.
In 1959 he commenced his long and successful career in university administration as an Administrative Assistant at the University of Adelaide, later becoming Senior Assistant. From 1966 to 1996, Frank Hambly served as Secretary of the Australian Vice Chancellors’ Committee, which acts as a combined voice for Australia’s universities.
Hambly’s achievements have been recognised in many ways, including Membership of the Order of Australia (1993) and an honorary Professorship from the University of Canberra (1997).
