Jock Statton has twice been honoured within the Order of Australia for service to the veteran community of South Australia. In 2003 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to veterans and their families, particularly through the South Australian Branch of the Returned and Services League of Australia. In 2013 this was upgraded to Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the veteran community of South Australia.
The RSL has been the focus of Jock Statton’s service, including eight years as a member of the national executive and as State President of the South Australian Branch. He is currently chairman of RSL Care, deputy chairman of the State Veterans Advisory Council, chairman of the State Veterans Health Advisory Council, and a member of the State Volunteer Ministerial Advisory Group, the future directions group of the Repatriation General Hospital, and supports many other groups with interests in veterans’ affairs.
Jock Statton is vice patron of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial Committee.
