The week recognised the rich diversity of languages, cultures, traditions and experiences that make up our school community, while encouraging students to learn from one another and appreciate the different perspectives that strengthen our collective identity.
Throughout the week, Secondary students and staff shared videos reflecting on what they love about their heritage. These personal stories provided a meaningful insight into the many cultural backgrounds represented across the College and highlighted the unique contributions each individual brings to our community.
A key highlight of the week was a special Secondary School assembly featuring two distinguished guest speakers, former Governor of South Australia The Hon. Hieu Van Le AC and acclaimed author, television personality and chef, Dorinda Hafner.
Mr Van Le shared his remarkable journey from arriving in Australia as a Vietnamese refugee to becoming the Governor of South Australia. His powerful story of resilience, determination and service left a lasting impression on students and staff alike. Reflecting on the opportunities and challenges that shaped his life, he encouraged students to approach the world with curiosity, courage and kindness, while recognising the importance of contributing positively to their communities.
Dorinda Hafner spoke about her own migration journey, first from Ghana to England and later to Australia. Drawing on her experiences, she explored how food can connect people across cultures and build stronger communities. Her message highlighted the value of embracing adventure, stepping beyond comfort zones and developing a deeper understanding of others through shared experiences.
