In the latest Prince Alfred College podcast First XI Soccer Captain, Leroy, and Vice-Captain, Jackson, are joined by Adelaide City goalkeeper, John Hall (PAC 2011), for a compelling conversation about football, perseverance, elite sport, and the PAC experience.

Welcome to the latest Prince Alfred College podcast.

This episode's guest, John Hall, graduated from Prince Alfred College in 2011 before pursuing a professional football career that has seen him play for Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers, as well as represent Australia at Under-23 level. He was also part of Adelaide United’s historic 2014 FFA Cup and 2015–16 A-League Premiership-winning squad. Now playing as a goalkeeper for Adelaide City, John reflects on his football journey that began during his time at PAC.

In this episode John shares his formative years at the College, both as a student and a dedicated football player, with insights into the discipline required to progress from school football to the professional ranks. He highlights that sustained commitment and consistency are often more critical than raw talent when striving for excellence.

Jackson shared insight into the Soccer program at PAC today, saying, "Soccer has been my outlet during Year 11 and 12, which has been crucial during the final year of my schooling. PAC’s Program has drilled in attributes that include always showing up, consistency, courage, and leadership."

A standout moment in the discussion is John’s reflection on representing Australia at Under-23 level, describing the pride and responsibility of wearing the national uniform. His experiences offer a valuable perspective for aspiring athletes, reinforcing the importance of resilience, work ethic, and long-term focus.

Of John's dedication to his sporting career Leroy shared, "I admire how John worked his way through the various levels of soccer and even represented the country at international level. It is very inspiring and shows his level of commitment and dedication to his sport."

The conversation also looks ahead to the future of soccer at PAC, with excitement building around the development of the new Multi-Purpose Sports Field at the Kent Town campus. For the first time in the College’s history, this facility will provide a home for soccer, creating enhanced opportunities for players to train, compete, and continue building the College’s strong football tradition.

"Having a home of soccer at PAC is an incredible milestone for PAC soccer. To finally give it a home at PAC is monumental for every boy in the program," Jackson said.

Reflecting on his own soccer journey, Leroy shared, “Being a part of the soccer program alongside being granted the privilege of being the captain of soccer has helped me improve my leadership and communication skills, and ultimately has developed my character to embody the values we aspire to uphold at the College.”

This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in sport, student development, and the power of dedication in achieving success.
