Red Centre

The RED Centre

The RED Centre

The RED Centre is our flexible, multipurpose sports and health facility. Opened in 2013, it features a two-court basketball stadium, indoor swimming pools (25m and beginner pool), change room facilities and several well-appointed teaching and function spaces. The RED Centre also houses a modern health and fitness studio and is home to Kent Town Swim.

Facilities are principally used for students for co-curricular sport trainings and matches, physical education classes and other educational pursuits.

An Exciting New Chapter

Prince Alfred College is proud to share the exciting new chapter in our commitment to student wellbeing, academic excellence, and community engagement with a major expansion of the athletic development area in the RED Centre.

Scheduled to be completed early in Term 1, 2026, this initiative is more than a facility upgrade—it’s an investment in our boys’ holistic development, building a lifelong connection to exercise and character development.

The redesigned Athletic Development space will feature:

  • Increased footprint – providing more space for more boys at more times.
  • Greater variety – number and quality of exercise equipment and spaces.
  • More exposure in Middle Years Health and PE, along with greater capacity for multiple student teams and groups to use the space concurrently.
  • More space for boys to seek self-directed wellbeing opportunities.
  • New facilities being introduced include a yoga & pilates studio and two golf simulators – further details to come.

This space will support boys to succeed—physically, socially, and academically—while reinforcing our values of Respect, Excellence, Belonging, and Endeavour.
