Support for Brighter Futures

Prince Alfred College Indigenous Scholarships

Our Indigenous Scholarship Program, and partnerships including the Indigenous Youth Leadership Program (IYLP) are enabling an increasing number of young men like Melique and Rome to attend Prince Alfred College.

Melique Andrews | Year 10

"My name is Melique Andrews and I am proud to say that I am from the Barunga Community in the Northern Territory. As a Jawoyn student, I have a strong connection to my culture and heritage, and I love spending time with my dad going hunting and being on country.

My older brother had the opportunity to attend Prince Alfred College and I am grateful that the same opportunity has been given to me.

I have been enjoying my time in the Boarding House and playing rugby, both of which have been great experiences for me. My goal is to graduate from Prince Alfred College, and I am confident that with the support of my teachers, I will be able to achieve this.

After graduation, I am interested in pursuing carpentry or becoming a Ranger like my Dad.

Thank you for supporting me and other Indigenous students like me. Your support makes a significant impact on our futures and helps us achieve our dreams."

Rome Burgoyne | Year 11

My Name is Rome Burgoyne, I am a Year 11 student at Prince Alfred College and a proud Kokatha and Mirning student from Adelaide. I come from a large family with six siblings. I am the third child.

The Boarding House environment at Prince Alfred College has been a fantastic experience for me. I have made so many friends here and have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and programs. I am particularly proud of my school community, as it is filled with diverse and talented students from all walks of life.

One of my goals is to play for the College in the 1st AFL team and to graduate from Prince Alfred College. I believe that education is the foundation for success, and I am grateful for the opportunities that Prince Alfred College has given me.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported the Aboriginal program at Prince Alfred College. This program offers invaluable opportunities for students like me and my family, and it is essential for our future successes. Your support makes a real difference in our lives, and we are grateful for your generosity.
