Matriculating at Princes, Malcolm Buckby undertook a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at Adelaide University and returned to the family property at Wasleys, near Gawler. Later, he completed a Graduate Diploma of Economics and became a researcher working on a range of economic impact studies for the South Australian Centre for Economic Studies.
Malcolm Buckby entered State Parliament as the Member for Light in 1993. Following service as Parliamentary Secretary to various ministers, Buckby was elevated to the ministry in 1997 as Minister for Education, Children’s Services and Training.
Malcolm Buckby maintains a strong interest in his old school and has served as President of the Prince Alfred College Foundation.
