Mark attended PAC from 1996 to 2003, graduating as Dux of the School. Mark was awarded a full scholarship to study Law and Commerce at the University of Adelaide and graduated in 2009 with First Class Honours. During his time at university, Mark represented South Australia as an adjudicator at the National Debating Championships. He also represented the University of Adelaide in a number of national competitions, including the Sir Harry Gibbs Moot and the Australian Law Students' Association Open Moot. For two years Mark taught in the School of Commerce at the University of Adelaide.
After leaving university, Mark worked as an intern at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, a United Nations court situated in The Hague. Moving to Melbourne in 2010, he commenced worked as a lawyer at the law firm Allens Arthur Robinson, before accepting a position as Associate to Justice Susan Crennan of the High Court of Australia.
In 2015 Mark was appointed to the Victorian Bar where he was part of the team of counsel assisting the 2018 Royal Commission into the Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
