Boarding Update

News
29 April 2021

We have had an excellent start to boarding life this term. All of the boys have been happy to pick up familiar routines and the atmosphere in the boarding house is happy and productive.

Many of our boarders are particularly focussed on their sport and co-curricular commitments. As this is the start of the winter sporting season it is an especially exciting time. It has been pleasing to see the boys engage in this with enthusiasm and also to see the high level of support the boarders provide for their peers.

Our highly regarded activities program is also up and running. The boys are able to choose from a wide range of options to ensure they are engaged and exposed to new experiences outside of their school life. Boarders have already had the opportunity to partake in hiking, golf, ten pin bowling, Latitude visit and technical studies this term. Boarders and staff enjoy these opportunities to learn new skills and also develop relationships in a different setting and context. We encourage all boys to make the most of these opportunities as this is a unique aspect of boarding life at the College.

The academic support provided for the boarders continues to cater for the needs of each boy. Our boarding staff have a range of skills and experiences to provide help for the boys’ study requirements. Further to this, we have regular attendance by expert teaching staff during our homework sessions. This allows our boys to receive tailored feedback and support to ensure they are using their study time as effectively as possible.

All members of the boarding staff are looking forward to supporting the boys during Term 2.We trust it will be an enjoyable term for all of the boys and look forward to seeing them take part in the many activities and events which make life as a Prince Alfred College boarder so special.
