The Langley children demonstrated an eagerness to engage in the experience, the highlight, being able to use their hands as painting tools. As the children worked away, we took the opportunity to introduce the phrase “Niina marni” to them and explain how it is a traditional greeting in the Kaurna language, whose land we are on.
Learning about the culture of Indigenous Australians supports the children to respond to diversity with respect and become aware of fairness. We are looking forward to building on the children’s understanding and continuing our learning about the culture of Indigenous Australians in the Langley class this term.
