International Students' Social

On 3 March 2021, PAC invited 12 international students from Seymour College and Walford Anglican School for Girls to attend our 1st International Social event this year.

12 girls and 24 boys were meet in the PAC Dining Hall and gathered into teams to play a series of fun games. The first game was an Easter Egg hunt which allowed boys and girls to work together. One person, blindfolded, was led by their partner as they collected Easter eggs hidden on the back oval. The team with the most eggs collected was declared the winner. The winners for this game were from Table 1, and they worked diligently to find 17 eggs!

A delicious dinner was served after the Easter Egg hunt. Our guests enjoyed roast chicken with BBQ sauce, fried noodles and rice, stir-fried greens and desserts. During dinner, the boys and girls exchanged their life experiences of living in Australia and discussed various topics, especially how the pandemic has separated them from family and loved ones. They also talked about the importance of friendships established at school, in the boarding house and during social events in this challenging time.

After dinner, the boys and girls continued to play games. Musical Chairs required players to move quickly while music played and then grab a chair to sit on when the music stopped. The boys played gently and graciously, offering their chairs to the girls. The girls were encouraged to play ‘aggressively’, and as a result, the girls won all three rounds of the game. Card games such as UNO and other party games were also played spontaneously, with all students calling on their skills to enhance the spirit of competition.

At the end of event, our Vice-Captain, Hayden Wong, announced the winners of the games and Captain David Sun presented the gifts. Table 1 won the 1st prize, and Table 5 won the 2nd prize. The prizes for the girls were carefully chosen – a colourful basket filled up with little chocolate and toy bunnies. It was a beautiful surprise, and the girls appreciated the gifts that the boys had prepared. There were two representatives from each school - Selina Wang and Kristie Fong - who delivered a speech showing the girls’ gratitude towards our boys and staff.

This social event enabled international students from three schools to build strong friendships that will last for years to come.
