They performed to great acclaim last Saturday evening under the direction of Mr Tom Pulford at the high-profile ANZ Community Ball at the Adelaide Convention Centre, a charity fundraiser event attended by around eight hundred guests from South Australian businesses and the wider community. Along with James Morrison and his Motown Band, Big Band 1 was the headline performing act for the night. Hosted by Channel 9’s David Campbell, PAC Big Band 1 kicked off the event with two brilliantly performed sets of music. James Morrison joined PAC on stage for their final set which lifted the boys’ performance for their finale.
The boys returned to the stage on Sunday afternoon for a sold-out Fringe event, Stompin’ at the Capri, a boutique concert organised by Mr Andrew Edge. This event was headlined by the top tier school big bands in South Australia, namely Marryatville High School, Brighton Secondary School, St. Peter’s College and Prince Alfred College, all working together to create a festival atmosphere of jazz at the Capri Theatre in Goodwood. Once again, PAC’s Big Band 1 played superbly with the boys enjoying the relaxed and social atmosphere. There was great spirit shown by all students in attendance as they got the chance to support each other in a mixed schools’ jam session to kick off the afternoon of jazz.
Thank you must go to Mr Andrew Edge, Mr Adam Mason and Mr Tom Pulford for their unwavering enthusiasm and support over the past weekend and their passion for the pursuit of music education excellence at Prince Alfred College.
