Staff Spotlight: Dr Julian Ferraretto
Andrew Edge | Director of Music
From being a featured guest artist at the Prince Alfred College Sesquicentenary Showcase in 2019 to taking on the role of Voice Co-ordinator at the College in 2025, the Music staff and students have been thrilled to welcome Dr Julian Ferraretto into the faculty this year. There was a reason Julian was chosen alongside Ross Irwin and Michelle Nicolle as our guests for that special 150th celebration – like them, he is a luminary in his field; a multi-style violinist and composer who connects with audiences and inspires young musicians. A home-grown talent, he has gone from winning a host of awards at the Elder Conservatorium to performing at some of Europe’s most prestigious venues and festivals.
In addition to his achievements on and off the stage, it is Julian’s daily presence around the College that is particularly exciting for our community. Balancing regular engagements with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and University, alongside freelance performing and education clinics, Julian consistently brings the highest levels of authenticity and care to his work at PAC. His genuine love for music and desire to support students and colleagues is appreciated by all. Apart from leading the Vocal Program with energy and expertise, he is directing and arranging for a host of ensembles, tailoring music to the needs of our students to set them up for enjoyment and success.
Julian has also added another string to his bow in 2025, becoming a published artist with four works published by Trinity University of London Press for their violin examination books. We are very fortunate to have Julian as part of our Music Department – his industry experience and connections will no doubt help enhance the experiences of our musicians during their school years and beyond.
