The Power of Volunteer Support

Our community benefits from an incredible network of supporters – parents, Old Scholars and dedicated volunteers – who give generously of their time, skills and experience to enrich our boys’ learning and create a greater sense of community and belonging.

Vanessa Stillwell | FoPAC Committee Member and Class Representative
“It has been such an exciting adventure commencing my son William’s education at PAC, initially in the ELC, and now as part of the ‘big school’. A key factor that has influenced the level of enjoyment, connection and engagement my family has felt upon entering the school community has been electing to take-on roles such as class representative, and FoPAC committee member. I was inspired to put my hand up for these volunteer opportunities because I saw them as a great chance to help shape a close-knit class group and then start building relationships across year levels, with parents, students and staff members. I’ve been a class representative for Will’s class for a couple of years now. The highlight is seeing the great closeness of the families that has developed within our group, driven partly by the social events I’ve helped organise.
I’d highly recommend any parent to become actively involved

in the school community through the various volunteer opportunities available. The chance to help shape and foster the many friendships you and your family will develop over your son’s schooling is invaluable.”
Malika Ranasinghe | Parent Volunteer

“I was inspired to help with excursions at my son’s school primarily to be a part of his educational journey and to share in the adventures with him, and to support the teachers in making the excursions enjoyable and smooth for all the kids.

Spending time with the children and watching them grow has been truly rewarding. The most enjoyable aspect of volunteering for the school has been experiencing the different activities organised for the kids. It has allowed me to have meaningful conversations with my son, connect with him, and integrate his learning into his daily life for better outcomes. Being a part of my son’s school journey and witnessing his growth has been incredibly fulfilling.”

David Sanders (PAC 1986) | Treasurer, College Council
I am happy to volunteer as Treasurer of the College Council. I feel a strong connection with the College and I bring financial skills to the table. I enjoyed my time at school, and I am proud of the fact that my five brothers and I all attended PAC, as do my four sons.

College Council is a dedicated team of people, and collectively, we have achieved a great deal. The continued improvement of College facilities, with projects like the construction of the RED Centre and the new boarding house. We have acquired many surrounding properties which will provide the College with opportunities for future development. I am proud of how much we have been able to grow the Endowment Fund, through good stewardship and the generosity of members of our Princes community. This fund is incredibly meaningful and provides a level of financial security to the College for the future. I get a lot of satisfaction seeing the College continually improving, whether that be the programs offered to our boys or the facilities. I enjoy seeing the many individual student and team achievements.”

John Jovicevic (PAC 2000) | PAOCA Management Committee
“Volunteering provides me with the ability to meet so many different Old Scholars at our events and see first-hand the remarkable work Old Reds are doing in their communities and chosen fields. I enjoy travelling to interstate events and meeting our members and forging connections and friendships I would otherwise not have made. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked closely with three Headmasters of the College, members of staff and other College stakeholder groups. This has allowed me to see the inner working of what it takes to make the College the successful place we see today.

I am a first-generation Princes Man and a child of a migrant family originating from Serbia. I started in Reception at PAC in 1988 and completed Year 12 in 2000. I am thankful my parents chose PAC for me as they saw it being the best fit for our family due to the inclusive community it offered as well as the facilities and programs available, which they thought would give me the best opportunity to try anything desired. I am proud to have two boys who attend the College in Years 4 and 1.”
