Our community benefits from an incredible network of parents and Old Scholars who give generously of their time, skills and experience to enrich our boys’ experiences at school and create community and belonging.
Tom Huxtable (PAC 2003) College Council Member and Foundation Board Member
“My journey with Prince Alfred College began in 1996 when I started in the Preparatory School. The College and its community have been such a significant part of my life for almost three decades.
Since finishing school in 2003, I served on the Old Collegians’ Association’s Management Committee before joining the College’s Finance and Audit Committee in 2018, which gave me valuable insights into the school’s financial operations and strategic priorities, including the importance of philanthropy for the College.
This experience then led to my involvement with the College Council and Foundation in 2024, as I saw an opportunity to contribute more broadly to the school’s future.
What has particularly inspired me is the chance to help shape the long-term vision of the College, specifically contributing to the College’s 2025-2028 Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan recognises and builds upon what I believe is our greatest asset – the exceptional people who make up our College community and who work tirelessly to deliver on our strategic priorities.
The best part about serving on both the Council and Foundation has been seeing how our careful planning and decision-making directly benefits our students and broader school community. It is incredibly satisfying to be part of a group of people who are actively building the College’s future, and I look forward to continuing this important work and seeing our Strategic Plan come to life in the years ahead”.
Khanh Chong FoPAC (Friends of PAC) President
“I have been on FoPAC for nine years, since our oldest boy started in Reception in 2016. Our family had just returned from ten years in the UK and our sons had both just started at PAC and I wanted to (and needed to) meet new people. Shortly after I joined FoPAC, I saw how much the boys loved the various FoPAC-run activities like the Easter Egg Raffle and the Mother’s and Father’s Day gift stalls. I also saw how much fun the parents/ carers had at the Ladies in Red Lunch, Disco Bingo and Quiz Nights. I knew I wanted to be part of the team that made these events happen to bring joy to our boys and community.
I hope I have, in some way, been able to support our parents, carers and grandparents make meaningful connections within the community. Our journey at PAC started in 2016 and will end in 2032, when our youngest will finish Year 12. This is a significant amount of time, and my husband and I treasure the community that we have connected with along this journey. Some of these connections have become some of our best friends!
I would encourage everyone who can or wants to, to volunteer. Whether it is with FoPAC or another group, it is an opportunity to be part of the community that looks after our sons, the chance to connect with other parents, and just the good feelings that come with volunteering”.
Simon Heuzenroeder Boarding Parents Consultative Committee (BPCC)
“Being a parent of five boys means our family is going to be, and has been part of the College community for a long time. My personal belief is don’t sit back and watch, get involved and help if you can.
All five boys attended the local Primary School and I have just finished up on the School Council after 17 years (the last eight as President), so when the boys started at PAC it seemed logical to help the BPCC. I have been involved since our eldest, Jake, started at PAC in 2017 so this is my ninth year and sixth as Chairman.
The BPCC allows boarding parents to bond with each other and raise funds to help ensure the boys are as comfortable as they can be for the time they are in boarding. Funds raised have been used to purchase a range of items such as a coffee machine, a wok for cooking lessons and we were thrilled to assist in the recent purchase of the golf nets.
Our flagship fundraiser is the Boarders Parents Weekend. Our goal is to get as many parents as possible actively involved so they get to meet others and enjoy our events.
I urge others to get involved in the BPCC. It is a great way to give back and our boys like it when their parents get involved in their school community!”
