Celebration and New Beginnings
Thank you to everyone who attended the 49th Foundation Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Members' Luncheon on Wednesday 15 May. Over 40 members and staff gathered for the occasion, which saw the official welcome of James Newton as the incoming President of the PAC Foundation.
James has been involved with the work Foundation since his appointment to the Board in 2020. A PAC old scholar (1991), James earned a Commerce/Law degree from the University of Adelaide and was admitted to the Bar in 2001. After working in Commercial Law and financial markets, he moved to Sydney for funds management, before returning to Adelaide in 2015. James runs a Family Office within his coworking business, Intersect, and leads The Newton Foundation, a philanthropic venture with external directors. James and his wife, Jane (nee Hassell) have two sons at Prince Alfred College in Years 2 and 4.
In addition to welcoming a new President, the Foundation saw the appointment of several new members to its Board: Mr Mark Hoffman KC (PAC 1980), Mr Lachlan Coleman, Mr David Prescott and Mrs Louise Marsh, along with Council Representative, Mr Thomas Huxtable (PAC 2003) and PAOCA Representative, Mr Alan Letcher (PAC 1966). These appointments bring new skills, ideas and experience to the organisation, positioning the PAC Foundation exceptionally well for the future.
Gratitude was also extended to departing Board Members, Brett Gooden, Rob Hall, Ashley Miller, Peter Myhill and Peter Stam, whose hard work and dedication have been invaluable to the Foundation. Special acknowledgment was given to the immediate past President, Mr Nicholas Heard, whose leadership and commitment have significantly shaped the organization’s progress over the past years.
This year's meeting coincides with an important occasion - the 50th anniversary of the PAC Foundation. To commemorate this special milestone, guests enjoyed a delightful cake and a glass of bubbles, adding a festive note to the proceedings. The celebration was a testament to the Foundation’s enduring impact and its bright future ahead.
