President
James was elected as the President of the Prince Alfred College Foundation in May 2024.
Following his graduation from PAC, James studied a double degree in Commerce / Law at the University of Adelaide before being admitted to the Bar in 2001. Following a stint working in Commercial Law at leading Adelaide law firm, Piper Alderman, James then moved to Queensland for 3 years where he completed a Masters in Business whilst working financial markets. James moved to Sydney in 2007 where he worked in funds management before returning to Adelaide in 2015. He and Jane wife have two boys at PAC currently in the Prep School.
James continues to work in funds management, running a Family Office from within his coworking business, Intersect, which he jointly owns with John Hood, a leading Adelaide Corporate Advisor, business owner and current Chancellor of Flinders University. James also runs a philanthropic vehicle, The Newton Foundation, with external directors.
Mark Hoffmann KC (PAC 1980)
Vice-President
Mark was elected to the Prince Alfred College Foundation in May 2024 and elected as Vice President in October 2024.
Mark gained a Bachelor of Law (Honors) at the University of Adelaide and has over 30 years’ experience practising throughout the Supreme and Federal Courts of Australia in commercial litigation with an emphasis on audit and accounting negligence, complex insolvencies and project litigation. He is a member of Bar Chambers in Adelaide and an Associate Member of 9 Selbourne Street Chambers, Sydney. He served as the President of the South Australian Bar Association from 2018-2022.
He is married to Rebecca, and they have a daughter and a son, who attends Prince Alfred College currently in the Middle school. Mark is the Club Secretary and a Committee member of the Walkerville Football Club.
Treasurer
David was elected to the Foundation Board in May 2024 and elected to the role of Treasurer in August 2024.
David is the founder and Managing Director of Lanyon Asset Management. He has over 20 years funds management experience working for firms in Australia and the UK. David was previously Head of Equities at institutional fund manager, CP2 (formerly Capital Partners). David has an Economics degree from the University of Adelaide, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia (FINSIA) and is a CFA charter holder.
David is married to Tiffany, and they have three boys and a daughter. Their oldest son completed his schooling at PAC in 2024 and his younger sons are in the senior and middle schools at PAC. David and Tiffany’s daughter is about to enter middle school.
Alice Turnbull
Executive Officer
Alice commenced at Prince Alfred College in March 2022 as the Philanthropy and Engagement Coordinator and took on the role of Executive Officer of the Foundation in December of that same year.
Prior to Prince Alfred College, Alice held a similar role at St Andrew’s School Walkerville and worked within a team to achieve an outstanding fundraising total for Capital works at the School in 2021.
Throughout her career Alice has always worked in customer service and relationship management roles gaining valuable experience from her positions in the media, recruitment, retail and aviation sectors.
Alice’s connections with the College dates back to her grandfather – JH Parkinson (PAC 1923), who also played in the first Prince Alfred Old Collegians Football side in 1926 to her son Tom Turnbull who finished in 2024 as one of the College Vice-Captains. She is an extremely proud and passionate ‘Princes mum forever’. Alice is married to Jason and they also have a daughter.
Louise Marsh
Board Member
Louise was elected to the Foundation Board in May 2024.
Louise is business owner and Managing Director of Corporate Conversation, a corporate reputation management firm.
She leads a team advising CEOs, their Boards and executives on strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and reputational risk. Louise also contributes to the continuing professional education of company directors on the topic of crisis management in the boardroom.
Outside Corporate Conversation, Louise is a non-executive director on the board of Volunteering SA&NT.
Louise is married to Old Scholar John Marsh (1996) and they have two boys at Prince Alfred College in the Preparatory and Secondary Schools.
Lachlan Coleman
Board Member
Lachlan was elected to the Foundation Board in May 2024.
He has been employed at The University of Adelaide since 2007 and his current role as the Director, Student Engagement and Success provides key support for the University’s learning and teaching, curriculum, student experience, and governance functions.
He is currently a Non-Executive Director on the Adelaide University Transition Council (overseeing the merger between The University of Adelaide, and the University of South Australia), and a Non-Executive Director on The University of Adelaide Council. He also serves on the Clinical Governance Committee of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Lachlan is passionate about cricket and this passion has led him to serve as the current Chairman of the Adelaide University Cricket Club.
Lachlan is married to Lisa, and they have a young son in the Preparatory School.
Alan Letcher
Board Member
Alan was elected to the Foundation Board as the Prince Alfred Old Collegians Association (PAOCA) representative in May 2024.
A proud ‘Old Red’ Alan left school in 1966 and commenced work as an articled clerk/accountant with AL Slade and Co. Chartered Accountants. Alan together with business partners established a successful Chartered Accounting firm in 1981. The firm continues today as LM Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors specialise in supporting their clients, people and communities to be financially successful.
Alan has retired from professional life and takes pride in supporting his communities. Alan has served the PAOCA since 2015 and held the role of President from 2019-2022.
Alan also spent over 20 years serving Little Athletics in South Australia, at a local, state and national level.
Married to Margaret, with two children Rachel and Paul (PAC 1995) and four grandchildren, Alan enjoys golf, water skiing, tennis, motor sports, classic cars and watching football (especially the ‘Old Reds’).
Tom Huxtable
Board Member
Tom was appointed to the Foundation as the Council Representative in May 2024.
A Director at JBWere, Tom specializes at providing strategic, investment and governance advice to private families and not-for-profit organisations.
He holds various qualifications including a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Adelaide majoring in both Accounting and Corporate Finance, and he is a Certified Financial Planner.
Tom previously served on the Prince Alfred Old Collegians’ Association’s Management Committee and was the Association’s President in both 2015 and 2016. Tom is a third generation Old Scholar and attended the College from 1996 to 2003 and was College Captain in his final year at PAC.
Tom is married to Natasha, and they have two daughters.
Board Member
David commenced as the 12th Headmaster of Prince Alfred College in 2022, coming from Newington College (GPS R-12 boys’ school) in Sydney where he was the Deputy Headmaster and Head of the Senior (7-12) Campus. Prior to Newington, David was Head of Senior School at St Leonard’s College in Melbourne and was a Boarding Housemaster for six years at Geelong Grammar’s Corio Campus and Head of Student Welfare for three years at the Timbertop Campus. David has taught Biology in the International Baccalaureate and the VCE and more recently taught Philosophy and Ethics as well as Senior Science at Newington.
David attends all Council meetings as well as the Infrastructure Committee meetings and the Finance and Audit Committee meetings.
David is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a B.Ed and a M.Ed as well as a Graduate Diploma in Business Management. He is married to Sofie who is a medical doctor, and they have a son who recently graduated from PAC and a daughter.
Dr Janet Young
Board Member
Janet is the longest serving Foundation Member having been elected to the Board in 2005. Janet served as Foundation President from 2011-2018. She currently sits on the College Council, the Advisory Committee and the Risk and Compliance Committee.
Janet and husband Glenn (PAC 1979) have three sons who attended the College, Alistair (2009), Benjamin (2011) and Cameron (2016).
Janet is a General Practitioner with over 30 years’ experience. She retired from general practice in 2023 officially, however she continues working in sports medicine and in a local emergency department.
Janet is currently the treasurer of the South Australian Sports Medicine Association (SAMSA) board which she has been serving since 2019, having been a member since 2007 when her interest in sports medicine began. She is also involved on their concussion management steering committee.
Janet worked for FIFA when the women’s World Cup was held in Adelaide in 2023, a role she describes as one of the highlights of her sports medicine work. She is also very proud to have held the role as doctor with the Women’s TDU, and the Hockeyroos doctor in 2010/2011.
Janet is passionate about philanthropy, being involved, and ‘giving back’.
Helen Karapandzic
Advisor
Helen joined Prince Alfred College in June 2020 and currently serves as Director of Philanthropy and Advisor to the Foundation Board.
With over 20 years’ experience in consulting and educational advancement, Helen brings wide-ranging expertise in strategy, marketing and communications, philanthropy, community engagement and events.
She holds various qualifications, including an MA from the University of Cambridge and a Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute and of Educate Plus, where she also serves on the Board and as President of the SA/NT Chapter.
Helen is a regular speaker at industry events where she enjoys sharing her insights and learning from others. She and her husband Milos have two sons currently in the Preparatory School at Prince Alfred College.
Craig Tasborski
Advisor
Craig has served as Director of Finance at Prince Alfred College since 2014. Shortly after his appointment, he was elected Treasurer of the Prince Alfred College Foundation Board, a position he held from May 2014 to August 2024.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Flinders University, with majors in Accounting and Finance, and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). Craig’s career includes a number of commercial finance roles across various industries in Adelaide, with experience at organisations such as Adam Internet, Tenneco Automotive, and Adtrans Group Ltd.
Beyond his executive responsibilities, Craig is an active member of the Prince Alfred College Advisory Committee and brings valuable governance experience from his tenure as Treasurer of the Australia Cambodia Foundation (Sunrise Cambodia) from 2015 - 2018.
Craig values the strong sense of community at PAC and is deeply involved in the College’s senior football program. His engagement in co-curricular activities has allowed him to connect meaningfully with students, staff, parents, and old scholars beyond the scope of his formal role.
He is engaged to his fiancée, Abbie, and they plan to marry in 2026.
