Peter Woodruff’s Membership of the Order of Australia recognizes significant service to medicine, particularly in the field of vascular surgery and healthcare standards in Queensland and nationally.
During his distinguished career Peter was Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Queensland 1987-2005 and, prior to this, Senior Lecturer. In practice he was director of the Vascular Surgery Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital and a Preeminent Surgeon, as well as Senior Visiting Vascular Surgeon/Renal Transplant Surgeon for 18 years. Senior positions were also held at Greenslopes Hospital including as Director of the Greenslopes Research Foundation.
Peter achieved the positions of Vice-President of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, President of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, and President of the Australian Association of Surgeons. Professor Woodruff has also served his nation as a Wing Commander in the RAAF Specialist Reserve.
