Brian Hone was Captain of Cricket and scored a century in each innings of the 1924 Intercol. Following his receipt of the 1930 Rhodes Scholarship and study at New College, he captained the Oxford XI and received Blues for cricket and tennis.
He was an Assistant Master at the great public school Marlborough, and in 1940 at the age of 33 was appointed Headmaster of Cranbrook School, Sydney. In 1950 he accepted the position of Headmaster of Melbourne Church of England Grammar School and remained in that position until his retirement in 1970.
