International Student Welcome Lunch

News
17 February 2021

On Tuesday 9 February, we were delighted to get together for the annual International Students Welcome Lunch in the McBride Room.

The purpose of the International Student Reception Lunch is to extend a warm welcome to all of our international students as well as usher in the year of the Ox! Celebrating new year has always been an important part of Chinese culture and brings with it a tremendous feeling of unity.

All international students were invited to attend, including those from Prep school! Many teachers and staff also attended to celebrate together and share in the the delicious Asian-style banquet which included Fortune Cookies, Prawn Cracks, Spring Rolls, Pork Buns, Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Honey Soy Chicken and more! A big thank you to our chef Simon Muir and the kitchen staff for preparing such a delicious feast.

The event commenced with a welcome speech from the Vice-Captain of International students, Hayden Wang. It was acknowledged that the year of Ox symbolises strength, determination and resilience which align with our School motto “Work hard, be kind”. Head of Secondary School and Deputy Headmaster Mr Greg Atterton delivered an inspiring speech and he noted the hard work all international boys had accomplished over last year and reminded us of the importance of keeping a positive attitude while going through this particularly difficult time.

I sincerely wish everyone well in the year of 2021.
