International Students Social

News
26 May 2022

The first International Students’ social this year was held on Saturday 21 May. We hosted 40 students and staff from Seymour College, Wilderness School and St Peter’s Girls’ School. This event gathered high popularity due to challenges posed by previous Covid restrictions and it was great to be able to have everyone attend.

Our International Student Captains Toby Zhao and Ivan Gao and the enthusiastic committee members designed and organised a series of engaging and fun activities for the participants. The boys and girls were split into six teams of ten people and competed for points. The games started off after Toby Zhao’s warm welcome. Our boys were assigned to host each game as groups came by and everyone had their chance to play. Points were tallied up and everyone shared laughter during the process regardless the results.

The boys and girls gathered in Dining Hall with good appetite around 6:00pm after some games completed. The masks were not barriers of interesting and meaningful conversations. Tasty foods were prepared by our Mater Chef Danny, including stir fried noodles, fried chickens, crispy pork chops and much more which everybody enjoyed in the cheerful atmosphere.

After dinner, more fun games continued. Draw and Guess, Poker, Guess the Song and Who is The Spy were all popular games which made everyone fully engaged and competitive.

The competition between groups were quite fierce which demonstrated the team spirit. The points were finalized after the most exciting game of ‘Blackjack’ which made dramatic changes on the result of each group. The ‘strong’ punishments were issued for the losing groups which was eating spicy Wasabi Oreo. Boys from the losing groups took the initiative and showed their bravery.

The great time flies fast. This special occasion ended with a wonderful group photo. The boys and girls left not only with newly established friendships, but also an experience of the great moment that they have not been able to enjoy for a while.

Thank you to Ms White, captains and other willing committee members for their endeavour in serving our international community and our wellbeing. There will be more exciting events ahead and we are looking forward for the next gathering.
