NAIDOC Week 2020

News
4 December 2020

This year we celebrated NAIDOC Week 2020, with a range of exciting and engaging activities, including a Kahoot Indigenous Trivia Competition, a NAIDOC Week 2020 Photography Competition and more.

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

During the week of Sunday 8 November to Sunday 15 November, NAIDOC Week was be celebrated around Australia. NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself. This year’s theme was "Always Was, Always Will Be". Despite this being a busy time of year, students embraced the week and engaged in a variety of fun learning and celebratory projects.

Congratulations to Toby Zhao (Year 10) who was awarded first prize in the NAIDOC Week 2020 Photography Competition by guest judges Uncle John Lochowiak, Aunty Bev Ewen and Headmaster Fenner.

ABC Adelaide covered some of the highlights from the week.
