Peter Rogers

Born in Adelaide 1940, Emeritus Professor Peter Lindsay Rogers, BE MBA DPhil DSc FIEAust, was an Emeritus Professor of Biotechnology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), with a distinguished international career that included visiting professorships overseas and consultancy roles with the United Nations and global aid agencies.

His work focused on applying biotechnology to sustainable development, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and environmentally responsible innovation.

Peter was educated at Mitcham Primary School and attended Prince Alfred College 1953-1957 before studying at the University of Adelaide. In 1963, he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and attended New College, University of Oxford. He later continued his academic career at UNSW, where he became Professor in Biotechnology and a leading figure in his field. Professor Rogers passed away in 2024, Northwood, NSW, aged 84.
