Following studies at the University of Adelaide and Roseworthy Agricultural College, Scott Dolling worked as a scientist at the CSIRO’s National Field Station at Cunnamulla, Qld, and was in charge of wool selection and gene control experiments from 1955. He was appointed Principal Livestock Research Officer for the South Australia Department of Agriculture in 1967.
In 1986 Scott Dolling became a sheep breeding consultant with assignments in Australia, China, India, and South Africa. Two books, Poll Dorset Breeding and Breeding Merinos, were published by him to assist sheep breeders to understand scientific research into sheep breeding.
Scott Dolling has published works with geneticists from around the world, and has served as president of the Committee on Genetic Nomenclature of Sheep and Goats.
